IELTS test takers O and S remembered the following details from a recent exam that was the same in India and the UAE:

Listening testIELTS test in the UAE

Section 1. About hotel reservation and trips available around the area.

Section 2. A lecture about chimpanzees, their culture, ability to learn and stages of their development.

Section 3, 4. Don’t remember.

Reading test

Passage 1. About Indian legendary heroes.
Questions: summary completion.

Passage 2, 3, 4. Don’t remember.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You have been sent by your company to attend a course in a college and you lost the certificate awarded to you. Write a letter to the principal requesting an additional copy of the certificate. Include the following in your letter

- How did you lose the certificate?
- Why is it important for you?
- What do you want the principal to do about it?

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Some people say that dangerous sports should be banned. Do you agree or disagree? Give your own opinion.

Speaking test

Interview

- What is your full name?
- Can I see your ID?
- Where are you from?
- Do you work or study?
- Where do you work?
- Can you describe your work and the company?
- Why did you choose this job?

Cue Card

Talk about a place where you stayed away from home. Please say

- Where and what is this place?
- Why did you go there?
- How long have you stayed there?
- How did you feel staying away from home?

Discussion

- Have you stayed at a hotel before?
- Do you think people like to stay at hotels? Why?
- What are the most important things that a good hotel should have?
- Do you think hospitality jobs are desirable?
- Do you think the hotel industry should be regulated? Why?
