IELTS Results competition winners in August 2014

Posted: 08 Sep 2014 03:30 AM PDT

Today we’re happy to present the 11 high achievers who won in our IELTS Results competition in August. This month was somewhat different because one of the participants had the highest Overall score, the perfect Band 9. This raised the bar and test takers with a very respectable Band 7.5, who otherwise would have taken at least the third place, were pushed out of the list of winners.

And here are the proud owners of the best IELTS results in August:

Academic Module – 1st placeBand 9 in IELTS

  • Emiliano Travieso Barrios from Uruguay, Band 9

Academic Module – 2nd place

  • Surabhi Jain from India, Band 8.5
  • Chibugo Uche Nwafor Orizu from Nigeria, Band 8.5

Academic Module – 3rd place

  • Shruti Dharmahattikar from India, Band 8
  • Rahul Chaudhari from India, Band 8
  • Sameer Shahnewaz from Bangladesh, Band 8

General Training Module – 1st place

  • Joanna Paula Norberte from the USA, Band 8.5

General Training Module – 2nd place

  • Glenn Dadizon Mauring from the Philippines, Band 8
  • Chander Tan from the Philippines, Band 8
  • Mayur Sabharwal from India, Band 8

General Training Module – 3rd place

  • Dipendra Thapa from India, Band 7.5

Dear winners, some serious congratulations are in order! To celebrate your big achievements we’re sending your special certificates to your emails. Your IELTS results will be displayed in the IELTS-Blog hall of fame – please feel free to show off to your family and friends!

The contenders who didn’t win because of the tougher competition this month still did a great job in their exams – it’s a fact that they got Band 7.5, a score many people dream about. So we just wanted to say to Ravi, Jovic, Fernanda and Roxanne – well done!

So, how does one get a high Band score in IELTS? All we know is that Fernanda (Band 7.5) prepared using our book “Target Band 7″, and also that Mayur (Band 8) prepared using ‘Ace the IELTS’ e-book. Surely our winners can share some practical tips that helped them, and can help others score higher.

This is why we’re asking all the winners to send us their stories of how they prepared and studied, and what helped them achieve success in IELTS. Anything they wish to share will be posted on IELTS-Blog without delay, so everyone can use the same technique and get a better score in their own exam this month.

P.S. IELTS results competition runs every month, and everyone is welcome to participate. Learn how to enroll here.
