Monagelle got Band 7.5 in IELTS with these easy techniques

Posted: 29 May 2014 03:30 AM PDT

Monagelle Toledo is a 23 year-old lady from the Philippines and one of our IELTS results competition winners. Just like you, she had to take the IELTS test and while preparing she used a few easy techniques that helped her reach her target score – Band 7.5. Here is what Monagelle had to say about her IELTS preparation – try these simple techniques to improve your own performance in the upcoming exam:

Band 8 in IELTS“First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Simone Braverman and her entire team. You have played a major role in my success, through the tips given in your book Target Band 7 and through your complete practice exercises.

Here are my techniques that I would like to share with the other IELTS candidates:

1. Have a Time Table.

Know your goals that you want to achieve in a specific period of time. For instance, do 2 listening exercises every day for 1 week, then reading exercises for the next week and so on. Try also to practice all 4 sections without a break, just like in a mock exam.

2. Identify your strengths and weaknesses.

Be attentive to your common mistakes and address them. Try to identify or experiment with your own strategies on how to rectify the problem. In my case, I had trouble in the Reading section until I found out that it is easier to read all the questions first which are related to the first paragraph or passage of the article and answer them before moving on to the next group of questions.

3. Practice.

Never stop until you nail it. Spare no effort.

4. Relax and conquer the exam.

Congratulate yourself on a job well done. Good luck and congratulations in advance!
