IELTS test takers from Iran and India (thank you, M and K!) shared this exam update. The topics and questions were the same in their countries.

Listening testIELTS test in Iran

Section 1. A student inquired about a part time job in a hotel.
Questions: filling in blanks.

Section 2. An explanation about some island, its surroundings and entertainment.
Questions: filling in blanks.

Section 3. Two students were discussing light pollution.
Questions: multiple choice.

Section 4. A talk about possible sites for development of an airport, their advantages and disadvantages.
Questions: filling in blanks

Reading test

Passage 1. About use of fingerprints in the past and today as a tool to identify people or a way to detect criminals. Artists have also used fingerprints on pottery in the past.

Passage 2. About fires in South California and their reasons, such as increase in the world’s temperature, long dry seasons and also building developments in free spaces.

Passage 3. About innovation methods used for some company’s further development.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given a line graph that illustrated a number of inquiries received via telephone, letter/email or in person over a six-month period from January 2011 to June 2011.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Nowadays most parents put a lot of pressure on their children to succeed. What are the reasons for parents to do this? Does it have a positive or a negative effect on children in general?

We had to compare the data. Writing task 2 (an essay) A recent study showed that both developed and developing countries prosper because of the economic growth. People from developing countries are happier than before while people from developed countries are not as happy as they were in the past. Why is this happening? How can this situation be improved?
