The topics and questions were the same in their countries. Section 1. A student inquired about a part time job in a hotel. Section 2. An explanation about some island, its surroundings and entertainment. Section 3. Two students were discussing light pollution. Section 4. A talk about possible sites for development of an airport, their advantages and disadvantages. Reading test Passage 1. About use of fingerprints in the past and today as a tool to identify people or a way to detect criminals. Artists have also used fingerprints on pottery in the past. Passage 2. About fires in South California and their reasons, such as increase in the world’s temperature, long dry seasons and also building developments in free spaces. Passage 3. About innovation methods used for some company’s further development. Writing test Writing task 1 (a report) We were given a line graph that illustrated a number of inquiries received via telephone, letter/email or in person over a six-month period from January 2011 to June 2011. Writing task 2 (an essay) Nowadays most parents put a lot of pressure on their children to succeed. What are the reasons for parents to do this? Does it have a positive or a negative effect on children in general? Speaking test Interview - What is your full name? Cue Card Talk about a situation when you forgot to do something important.
