IELTS test in India and Philippines – August 2014 (General Training)

IELTS test takers from the Philippines and India (thanks M and K!) shared the following information about the recent exam that was the same in these two countries:

Listening testIELTS test in India

Section 1. A swimming instructor explained the precautions to be taken by various categories of people (adults, babies and children) including duration of the course.

Section 2. About Japanese underground museum, its location and how to enter it. Then in general on advantages of construction of underground and overground buildings.

Section 3, 4. Don't remember.

Reading test

Passage 1. Comparison of various restaurants along the bay area.

Passage 2. Transport system in the bay area, talking about discounts for various groups of people (students, pensioners and so on).
Questions: True/False/Not Given.

Passage 3. About different walking tracks along the mountains. Explanation of the local nature, various places to see such as valleys and forests.
Questions: map labelling, summary completion.

Passage 4. Don't remember.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You recently heard about an international company that you would like to work for. Write a job application letter and say:

- How did you hear about the company?
- What skills and qualifications do you have?
- Why do you want to work there?

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Nowadays traffic jams are becoming a big problem in most cities and bigger towns. Some people suggest that widening of roads is a solution to this problem. Do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion and suggest a solution to this problem.

Speaking test

Interview

- What is your full name?
- Can I see your ID?
- Where are you from?
- Do you work or study?
- Do you watch TV regularly?
- How does regular and unlimited TV-watching affect children, in your opinion?

Cue Card

Describe a garden or a park that you have visited recently. Please say

- What is this place?
- Where is it located?
- How often do you visit it? Why?

Discussion

- Do you think parks are necessary in urban areas?
- Is it beneficial for people living nearby in your view? Why?
- Will increasing population shrink park areas?
- Do you think parks help to reduce crime?
