IELTS test takers from Bangladesh and Jordan (thank you, M and A!) shared the following exam update:

Listening testIELTS test in Australia

Section 1. Application for a part-time job.
Questions: short-answer questions (no more than 2 words or numbers)

Section 2. Description of a zoo map.

Section 3. Don't remember.

Section 4. An academic discussion about studying chemistry and comparison between this and engineering.

Reading test

Passage 1. Discussion about ships, in particular about an engineer and his achievements in different types of transatlantic ships.
Questions: filling in blanks, True/False/Not Given, statements matching with the name of a ship.

Passage 2. About ecological issues in Florida including water pollution, its causes and prevention methods.

Passage 3. About a novel writer criticism.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given two tables comparing the sales figures of fair trade labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004 in 5 European countries. We had to prepare a report for a university lecturer describing both tables.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people believe that parents should be teaching their children to use recycled things and avoid wastage. Others argue that school is the best place to teach it. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

- In what particular region do you live?
- Why do you enjoy living there?
- How long have you been living there?
- What activities did you enjoy more as a child, indoor or outdoor? Why?

Talk about a tourists attraction site that you have visited. Please say

- Did you like it there?

Discussion 1

Can you tell me about tourist attraction sites in your country?

Describe a rule that you had to follow at school. Please say

- What was the rule?
- Who made it?
- What was the punishment for breaking the rule?
- How did it influence you?

Discussion 2

- Did all of your classmates follow that rule?
- What was their opinion about the rule?
- Should all organizations and workplaces follow strict rules and regulations in your view?

- What will be the effect of extra load on workers?
- Some people say that parents should maintain strict rules for their children, is it good or bad?
- Is it true that nowadays teenagers don’t want to follow their parents’ rules?
- What can parents do to fix this type of behaviour?
